New Graduate Guide

Can New Graduate Physical Therapists Travel?

Yes. Gold Coast Healthcare Staffing is one of very few agencies that actively places new graduate physical therapists in travel assignments. Most agencies require one to two years of clinical experience before considering a traveler. Gold Coast takes a different approach.

Our mentorship-first model means every new graduate is matched with a dedicated mentor who has deep experience in their assigned clinical setting. Before your first day, your mentor will walk you through setting-specific documentation systems, productivity expectations, and clinical protocols. This preparation is why our new graduate travelers arrive confident and contribute from day one.

  1. You tell Gold Coast your preferred clinical setting
  2. We match you with a licensed PT mentor who specializes in that setting
  3. Your mentor prepares you on documentation, productivity, and protocols before day one
  4. Your mentor stays available for questions and clinical guidance throughout the assignment

Gold Coast was founded by physical therapists who remember what it felt like to start their careers. We built this agency to give new graduates the support we wish we had, with mentors who specialize in every major practice setting, from skilled nursing to acute care to home health. If you are just starting to explore, our guide on how to become a travel physical therapist covers licensure, timelines, and choosing a first assignment, and our skilled nursing guide for new graduate physical therapists explains why that setting is such a strong place to start.

License Applicants

What About Physical Therapist License Applicant Placements?

Gold Coast Healthcare Staffing is one of the only agencies in the country that places Physical Therapist License Applicants (PTLAs) as travelers. PTLA status applies to internationally educated physical therapists who have completed their credentialing process and are awaiting or have recently received state licensure.

Most staffing agencies will not work with PTLAs because the placement process requires specialized facility partnerships and additional credentialing support. Gold Coast has established relationships with facilities across the country that accept PTLA travelers, creating opportunities that simply do not exist at other agencies.

If you are a Physical Therapist License Applicant seeking travel or permanent positions, Gold Coast can connect you with facilities that welcome your credentials and provide the clinical environment you need to build your career in the United States. Contact us to discuss available placements.
